MAUREEN HALL

Mom, Maureen Hall is actually a re-rider, returning to the sport after almost 20 years out of the saddle.   She returned to riding in 2004 in preparation of the Dude Ranch vacation, and caught the bug again.

In 2005 she purchased a 17 hh 5 year old Clyde/Hackney Gelding she named Prodomus of Prospect.  Prody, as he is affectionately called, was actually trained to drive as a Commercial Horse, but at age 4 ˝ it was decided that he was too big for his team and his riding career commenced.

By the end of 2005 Maureen decided that in addition to eventing with Prody, she really wanted to advance her dressage and the addition of Stephanie Jensen to the training fold provided the perfect opportunity to do so.

Through the 2006/2007 winter, dressage began to take a greater focus in training with Prody and Maureen – they seemed to really enjoy and excel in the training.  An unfortunate accident at the beginning of the 2007 season at their first event, where Maureen broke her leg, was the beginning of the end for eventing for this pair.  However it also became the beginning of more dedicated dressage training once back in the saddle.

In 2008 Maureen and Prody competed in several National “Gold” Dressage Shows with FEI Dressage Rider Stephanie Jensen’s guidance, culminating in a 5th at Cornerstone and the CNE Classic in Level 1.

In 2009 Prody and Maureen solidified their Level 1 work with scores of 66% and 63%, placing 3rd and 6th at Cornerstone's Gold Spring Classic.   They finished the year with a consistent level 2 training and working on level 3 movements.

Maureen also enjoys breeding, training and showing Canadian Sport Horse Draft/Warmblood Crosses and grooming for her sons at their horse trials.   Another favourite activity is when the whole family goes on a family hack to a local conservation area for the day.

In 2010 Maureen will now begin training Prospect's Bravestrom - a Prospect bred 2007 Canadian Sport Horse Gelding as her next  dressage horse.

2011 saw a coaching change at  Prospect Equine Farms for Dressage with Karin Davis joining the team

With Karin's assistance so far in 2011 Strom and Maureen have competed at Gold Dressage Shows obtaining scores of over 66% at Training Level.  Prospect Equine Farms is really excited for this new team.

Bravestrom and Maureen Hall were the Adult Amateur Training Division Champions at the Summer RCRA Gold Show in Newmarket.

Maureen and 4 yr old Prospect's Bravestrom at the Ontario Gold Dressage Championships - lst, 2- 2nds and 3rd. Scores of 68, 66, 65 and 65. Missed Training Division reserve Champ by 1%. Thanks so much to our coach Karin Davis. Judge's comments - Impressive Canter, very nice test, energetic.

In 2012 the goal for Strom and Maureen is to compete  at Level 1 and possibly the 5 yr old FEI Division.

Maureen is the President of Hotel and Leisure Living Services Ltd.  which operates the business "Hotel Fun 4 Kids".  Go to www.hotelfun4kids.com for more information.

GERRY HALL

While Dad Gerry has always been a farmer at heart, having worked on his cousins' farm every summer as a kid, his true love of horses and farming came to the forefront in 2004 when the family spent a week at a ranch in Wyoming.  Riding on the wide open plains and plateaus is where he felt right at home.

On their return from Wyoming, the Hall Family embarked on their journey as farmers, turning their 100 acre property into a working horse breeding farm.

Gerry takes great pride in maintaining the farm property, machinery and facilities.

In 2006 a trusty steed for Dad was found at Carson's Auctions.  Bidding against the "MEAT MAN" for a staid Draft Cross Mare, we were lucky enough to obtain LACEY.

Gerry enjoys taking LACEY on family hacks, grooming for both the Boys at Events and helping Maureen at Dressage shows and Breed shows.

In addition, Gerry drives a Big Green Tractor around the farm, grading, snow plowing, digging post holes and moving round bales into the fields.

MITCHELL HALL

Mitchell Hall, 21, has been riding under the guidance of his coaches Stephanie Jensen and Michele Mueller since spring of 2006.

With his coaches' help he has taken his mare - Prospect's Ebony - from a green horse in 2006 to a winning event horse capturing two events in 2007 and participating and completing in the Ontario Horse Trials 2007 Championships.

In 2008 Ebony and Mitchell placed 3rd at Checkmate with the top junior dressage score, 1st at Grandview, placing at other events and again participated in the championships.

At the end of the 2008 Mitchell started the training of his next up and coming mount, a 6 year old 17.1hh Belgian/TB Mare - Asper of Prospect.

Asper has already been introduced to eventing and at the last event of the 2008 season - Grandview, placed 6th in Entry out of 14 entrants. Her dressage marks were very impressive and bode well for the upcoming season.

2009 saw Mitchell and Asper really begin to form a wonderful partnership with top dressage scores, 6th placing at Canterdown, 3rd at Lanes End.

In addition to Mitchell's eventing and dressage, he has also participated in Canadian Pony Club activities including as a member of the 2007 National Prince Philip Games "Masters" Championship team.  As well Mitchell qualified for Canadian Pony Club National Jumper finals in 2008.

Mitchell and Asper had a Great 2010.  In August of 2010, just after Asper and Mitchell qualified for the Pretraining Championships by receiving a 3rd at Grandview's August Event, the decision was made to sell Asper and find a younger mount for Mitchell.  Asper sold the day she was put on the market and is now training at Ute Busse's Farm as a Dressage horse.

Mitchell is currently attending Trent University majoring in Environmental Science and assisting with the training and Showing of our Draft Cross Prospect Sales horse.

Mitchell has just welcomed his new mount AZ Spirits Go - a 2008 Hanoverian/TB Mare bred by Quebec 3 Day Eventer Peter Barry.  "ALLIE" is by the Hanoverian Stallion Freedem Z out of Liberty Spirit (Catherton Liberator X Mille (Primative Rising)).  This chestnut mare was bred to be a 4* eventer and we are really excited to see what the future holds for this team.

STEPHEN HALL

When Stephen, age 18, started riding with Stephanie Jensen and Michele Mueller as coaches in 2006, his pony, Prospect's Oasis, was a green pony that was a bit of a challenge for the new rider.

Through great patience and consistent instruction from his coaches, the pair developed into a wonderful team. Sadly, in the spring of 2007 it was realized that Stephen had outgrown Oasis and Stephen needed a new mount.

Along came Prospect's Petronus - a 14.3hh 6 yr old gelding that was being used by his brother Mitchell as a games pony. "Pete" as he is affectionately known, became Stephen's best buddy in 2007.

While still used by Mitchell for Games during 2007, Stephen, with his coaches' assistance was able to foster great confidence in this pony to produce an awesome small gelding with expressive dressage abilities culminating with a 4th place at Grandview in October 2008.

As boys tend to continue growing, so too did Stephen outgrow Pete and the search was on for a new mount. As luck would have it, since Mitchell moved to a new mount Prospect's Ebony no longer had a rider.

Tentative at first, Stephen began riding his brother's previous mount Prospect’s Ebony and they have now established a great bond that has produced fantastic results in 2009.

Stephen has been able to advance Ebony’s training with their coaches' assistance and they are beginning to work on more advanced dressage movements. This partnership is sure to go to great heights.

Highlights of their first season include 2 first place and one 2nd place finish at their first three events of 2009.

Ebony and Stephen Hall were Reserve Champion Young Rider for the 2009 Challenge Series at Pretraining.

In addition to Stephen's eventing and dressage, he has also participated in Canadian Pony Club activities including as a member of the 2007 and 2008 National Prince Philip Games "A" Championship teams.  As well Stephen qualified for Canadian Pony Club National Jumper finals in 2008.

2010 was a transition year for Stephen.  While he worked at training some of our sales horses and we searched for a new competition mount.

In August 2010 a new mount was finally found for Stephen.  Prospect's Lillian, a Selle Francais joined Prospect Equine Farms.   This 2005, 17.3hh mare is by the stallion Ilian De Taute and we are really excited about this new team.  2011 will be a training year for this team while they work on their skills and partnership with the hopes of competing later in the season.

Our new dressage coach Karin Davis is helping Stephen and Lilly with their dressage while Michele Mueller is working with this team for stadium and cross country as well as coaching at events.

Stephen and Lilly attended their first event in August, 2011 - Glen Oro - finishing 10th out of 15 at Entry Division with a Clear Cross Country.  Their second event, Dreamcrest saw the team finish 5th, again with a clear cross country.

October 2, 2011 - Grandview Fall Horse Trial - their third full event - Dressage score was 10% better than a month earlier, a beautiful stadium round and her third clear cross country.  Prior to the last fence, Lilly slipped and almost went down - Stephen almost came off but she righted and he stayed on but lost his right stirrup - the last jump - with no stirrup - the reason he was riding a bit to the left. In all three events she did this season she did not have a single refusal cross country.  One run out stadium (rider error) and finished with a lot of confidence and skill to move up to pretraining next year.
