Danika never ceases to amaze us at Prospect.
Born at Prospect on April 14, 2009, she surprised us with her arrival on a
beautiful Saturday morning in April. Thus her name - Danika - means
Morning Star and is emphasised by the white star on her flank. A very
strong and healthy filly from the moment of her arrival, she takes every
experience in stride and learns very quickly.
Danika has shown at Canadian Sport Horse
Breed shows as a foal and yearling, placing well and earning her dam the
2009 Ontario Chapter Canadian Sport Horse Progeny of Dam Championship along
with her 1/2 brother
Prospect's Bravestrom.
Halter trained from a very early age, as a
two year old Danika has mastered lunging, has worn tack and has just started
her long lining training. She is always a pleasure to work with and
learns quickly. She exhibits some alpha mare characteristics that
require consistent training but always offers her utmost in everything she
is exposed to - showing her true brave character. She excels in the
jump chute showing fantastic jumping ability. Completely accustomed to
a saddle, bridle, surcingle and cross ties, she will now work towards being
under saddle in the spring of 2012.
Her gaits are expressive with cadence and
her jump is scopey while exhibiting the ability to naturally judge striding
and height.
She is always friendly and one of the
first horses to approach anyone venturing the field while still maintaining
her diva attitude.

January 28, 2012 - Our 2009 Baby -
Prospect's Danika by ES
Donavan had her first ride today and she was an absolute star. Thanks to
Mitchell for showing her what fun riding can be.

See Video below of Danika's second ride
March 24, 2012 - Danika is progressing well with long lining - turns,
straight lines, halts and w/t as well as some leg yielding with the long
lines are going very well. She has just started working on the canter
with long lines. Danika has now had a rider on her back several times
with consistency developing in her forward walk and walk halt transitions.
She is ridden all around the arena, 20 meter circles and straight lines.
Some walk trot transitions have been introduced and she can be independently
ridden around the arena. |
